We summarized the advantages of quick couplers and what types of them there are in our last blog article. (Haven't discovered it yet? Then read it here .) For some areas of application and tasks, however, it is necessary to be able to move the attachment into many different positions. The entire excavator often has to be laboriously moved to do this. But it's also easier: with a tiltrotator. We'll explain to you here what advantages tiltrotators have and what mounting options are available - you already guessed it.
WHAT PURPOSE DO TILTROTATORS FULFILL?
Tiltrotators ensure that you can endlessly rotate your attachment tool on the excavator by 360 degrees and at the same time swivel it up to 55 degrees to the left and right. They therefore make sense for all applications where you have to flexibly move the attachment into different positions and angles without being able or wanting to move the excavator much. They are perfect if, for example, you want to dig around obstacles, fill material precisely or model without damaging the surface through frequent maneuvering.
WHAT CULTIVATION OPTIONS ARE THERE?
Sandwich: quick coupler – tiltrotator – quick coupler – attachment
With the sandwich design, there is a quick coupler on the excavator arm to which the tiltrotator is attached. A quick coupler is attached underneath the tiltrotator, where the attachment tool is then located. It sounds complicated at first, but it has the big advantage that the tiltrotator can be put down completely. This means it can be protected during tough operations and can even be used on other machines.
Fixed attachment: Tiltrotator permanently attached – quick coupler – attachment
The tiltrotator can also be permanently installed on the excavator. The quick coupler is attached underneath, followed by the attachment. This makes sense if the pan and rotate function is to be used in (almost) every application, for example if you often work on cramped construction sites.
As with quick couplers without rotation and swivel functions, there are also mechanical, hydraulic and fully hydraulic versions of tiltrotators. Not quite sure what that means? You can check everything out here again.
WHAT BENEFITS DO I HAVE FROM THIS?
Your business will be more productive and profitable: You can complete construction sites faster because using a tiltrotator means you have to move the excavator much less - and that saves time. This also means there is less wear and tear and you use less fuel. The maintenance costs of your excavator are reduced. At the same time, you need less staff or can use your employees for other jobs because less manual rework is required.
You increase safety on the construction site: Since, as already mentioned, there is less manual work, fewer staff are around the machine. At the same time, the machine moves less, so the risk of accidents decreases.
You increase the flexibility for your orders: You have many more possible uses for your machines and no longer have to cancel orders because your machines are not suitable for them.
You reduce environmental damage: Since you have to move the excavator much less, you also damage the ground much less. This is particularly important in gardening and landscaping.
We have now seen that a tiltrotator offers many new possibilities and areas of application for your machine. Now, of course, you still need the right attachments to be able to use the tiltrotator efficiently. You can find our selection of attachments on Baumashop24 here. If you have any questions, we would of course be happy to advise you personally.
If you would like to use your tiltrotator to level quickly and precisely without having to move the excavator, we also have the perfect leveling bucket for you: Our TERROX leveling bucket is ideal for use with a tiltrotator thanks to its specially adapted shape. Thanks to its shape, which tapers towards the back, it doesn't interfere with the tiltrotator and you can use the full range of motion.
