Construction machines are often subjected to heavy loads and work in demanding environments. This makes it all the more important to reduce wear and tear and to ensure a long service life and reliability of the machine and its attachments. In the construction machinery sector, Epiroc has found the perfect solution for the automatic lubrication of hydraulic hammers: The ContiLube II reduces the time required compared to manual lubrication and also offers other advantages. You can find out what these are here.
That's how it's done
The ContiLube II is attached directly to the adapter plate of the hydraulic hammer. This makes the ContiLube II series particularly suitable for rental fleets, as the lubrication device always remains connected to the attachment, even if it is picked up by another carrier device. The highlight of the automatic lubrication device is the small pump in the housing, which vents itself and only dispenses chisel grease when required. This means that only the exact amount of lubricating grease that is actually needed for the respective application is dispensed. Another advantage: the fill level of the cartridge can be easily monitored directly from the cab.
The ContiLube II is available for heavy hydraulic hammers as well as in the micro version for smaller devices.
Why is it so important to properly lubricate your hydraulic hammer?
It is important to lubricate hydraulic hammers on construction equipment to ensure their performance, reliability and service life. Here are the reasons why:
- Reduce friction and wear: Lubrication forms a protective layer between moving parts to reduce friction and wear. This helps extend the life of the hydraulic hammer components.
- Ensure efficient performance: Well-lubricated components function more efficiently and achieve better performance. Poor lubrication can lead to increased energy consumption and affect the performance of the construction equipment.
- Corrosion protection: The lubrication forms a protective layer on the metal surfaces to protect them from corrosion and rust, especially in environments with high humidity or aggressive conditions.
Overall, regular lubrication helps reduce operating costs, maximize uptime, and improve construction equipment reliability. Therefore, it is important to follow manufacturer-recommended maintenance intervals and use high-quality lubricants.
